Milkweed Editions, an award-winning literary press, seeks a Senior Editor with a record of accomplishment in acquiring and developing outstanding literary fiction. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to acquiring and editing 7-10 titles each year, cultivating relationships with authors and agents, positioning and presenting acquired titles, and attending relevant conferences.
The ideal candidate will have considerable experience with substantive editorial development and be well-connected in the literary marketplace. Milkweed Editions offers a creative and supportive work culture, and the ideal candidate will embrace collaboration across our team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years experience in literary title acquisitions
- Alignment with the mission, values, and publishing program of Milkweed Editions
- Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks from multiple points of contact
- Demonstrated ability to work well on a team, while also being self-directed
Preference will be given to candidates in or willing to relocate to Minneapolis. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits*. Compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors, in a range of $75,000–$95,000 per year.
